Cathy uses several different hides in her art, including cow, rattlesnake, python, hair-on hides, deer and lamb. Beginning with line drawings, she brings these images to life by layering and quilting the hides on a longarm sewing machine, thereby elevating the art of quilting to a new level. Once the images are complete, she further enhances them with dyes, paints, polishes and western-style rivets, grommets, conchos and more.
She has truly mastered the art of quilting on leather, bringing the world a whole new form of fine art. Her artwork can be found in museums and private collections nationwide.
